New JCPenney Promotions Help Shoppers Stretch Their Dollars

JCPenney has launched a pair of budget-stretching promotional incentives for shoppers: one that looks to alleviate the impact of higher gas prices and one that connects its loyalty program with sister retailer Aéropostale.

On Friday, July 3, customers who bring a printed or digital gas station to any JCPenney store will get $10 off a $10 purchase.

“JCPenney has always been there to help families stretch their budgets without asking them to compromise on style, quality or value,” said Michelle Wlazlo, JCPenney brand CEO. “You’re already heading to the gas pump, so why not use the opportunity to put some money back in your pocket? Fuel Up and Save is a fun way to take an everyday expense and turn it into something rewarding at JCPenney, so you can spend the holiday weekend making memories with the people you love, not worrying about every dollar spent getting there.”

The Fuel Up and Save effort follows the recent launch of a new feature in JCPenney’s loyalty program. The company is linking its Rewards Access program to that of Aéropostale, another operation in the Catalyst Brands portfolio, which includes the two banners, as well as Brooks Brothers, Lucky Brand and Nautica. With the link, dollars spent at either operation, whether in store, online, or on their apps, earn rewards consumers can spend at either banner.

Consumers who sign up for the loyalty programs get a $10 CashPass award from JCPenney or a $5 award from Aéropostale. Thereafter, consumers receive a $10 CashPass for every 200 points earned. In addition, loyalty members can earn a $5 CashPass for completing “challenges,” anything from purchasing in specific departments to uploading a photo of a new look styled at a JCPenney Salon.
