Kohl’s Adds AI To Enhance Mother’s Day Shopping, Employee Capabilities

Kohl’s is finding new ways to use artificial intelligence by introducing a Mother’s Day gift finder and an AI tool to enhance how employees tap into information.

The new Gift Finder for Mother’s Day arrives as a conversational AI agent designed to help customers turn ideas into satisfying choices, according to Kohl’s. Built with Google Cloud’s Gemini Enterprise for Customer Experience, the shopping agent offers personalized gift ideas based on a mother’s interests, hobbies and style. Shoppers also can upload a product image to find similar items to what they’re considering or spark new ideas, then they can browse recommendations, view product details and add items to their carts, all without leaving the chat.

Kohl’s designed the AI agent to help customers shop as they want, whether they’re budget-conscious, planning ahead or picking something up at the last minute, the company pointed out. Each interaction helps Kohl’s better understand the customer’s needs, shaping how the agent interacts with shoppers over time. 

In addition, Kohl’s reported it is exploring new ways to strengthen the way employees access and use information through a new AI analytics tool powered by Google Cloud’s Conversational Analytics in Looker. Its teams are beginning to test a more intuitive, conversational approach to working with data. The tool allows employees to ask straightforward questions so they can compare product trends by category or brand or better understand what may be driving results without needing to pull multiple reports or manually compile data. As it evolves, the tool has the potential to streamline access to information and enable deeper exploration, helping teams gather insights more efficiently to support a seamless, customer-first experience.

Together, Kohl’s maintained, the AI enhancements are part of how it is using technology to make shopping easier, remove friction, simplify decisions and deliver more meaningful experiences along the way.
