Amazon has launched Designing Merch with Alexa for Shopping, an AI-powered feature that allows consumers to create customized designs for tumblers, apparel and other products using simple text prompts.
The launch expands Amazon’s use of AI beyond product discovery and recommendations into product personalization and custom merchandise creation.
According to Amazon, consumers can use the feature to generate and refine custom designs through a conversational process without requiring graphic design skills. The function uses AI to help shoppers create personalized merchandise based on their ideas and preferences.
Designing Merch guides consumers through the design process, offering suggestions intended to help users create polished-looking products and select colors and design elements. Available products currently include tumblers, water bottles, T-shirts, hoodies, jerseys, polo shirts and sweatshirts.
The feature also uses AI to provide personalized size recommendations and fit insights for apparel purchases.
Once consumers complete a design, Amazon handles production and fulfillment and the products are eligible for Prime shipping.
Designing Merch is available as a free feature within Alexa for Shopping, with consumers paying only for the products they choose to order.
