The Knot: Gen Z Beginning To Dominate Wedding Trends

Posted In: Retail Articles

Consumers are redefining modern nuptials as a new generation of couples deliberately prioritize, thoroughly personalize and insist on authenticity at every step of their march to matrimony, according to The Knot Worldwide and its 2025 Global Wedding Report.

The report offers wedding insights, gathered from more than 33,000 couples from eight countries, including the United States, who were married in 2024.

Top takeaways from the 2025 Global Wedding Report, as The Knot reported them:

  • Gen Z Weddings are on the Rise. In the U.S., one in three couples using The Knot are Gen Z members.
  • Seasonal Trends Reflect Local Values. Engagement season peaks in December across the U.S., United Kingdom, Brazil and Mexico, often aligning with holidays and family gatherings, while in India, couples are most likely to get engaged in February, around Valentine’s Day.
  • Guest Experience Is the Priority. Half of couples worry about guest experience, so they continue to rely on wedding professionals to bring their plans to life and ensure everyone has a great time, hiring between 10 and 14 vendors on average.
  • Personalized, Purposeful Celebrations. A recent poll indicated that 68% of respondents want guests to feel like they’ve never been to another wedding like theirs before. Moreover, 36% of consumers say personalized details are most likely to make a wedding memorable, followed by food and drinks at 23%, and entertainment at 21%.
  • Urban Hubs and Sunny Escapes Are Top Choices for Destination Weddings. Leading the destination wedding list in the United States are New York, Washington, D.C. and Chicago.

“As more Gen Zers get married, we’re seeing weddings shift in deeply personal and creative ways,” said Raina Moskowitz, CEO of The Knot Worldwide. “Couples today are rewriting the rules, placing more emphasis on the guest experience, while embracing traditions that reflect their identities and values. This year’s report offers an insightful glimpse into how love and celebration are transforming around the world, with wedding professionals continuing to play a critical role in bringing those visions to life.”
