Target Corp. reported that its two weeklong back-to-school and off-to-college savings events in August will offer reduced prices on thousands of academic items, 95% of which are priced at or below what the retailer charged for comparable items in 2025.
On August 8, Target will host back-to-school events in 2,000 stores, expanding from 400 last year, where students and parents will find affordable style, personalized school-year essentials and giveaways, the company stated. Included will be new arrivals from Target’s Cat & Jack brand, as well as take-home personalization kits featuring custom bag tags and puffy stickers.
Then, on August 16, Target will launch back-to-college move-in events at 150 stores, welcoming students and their parents with stylish dorm and everyday essentials at affordable prices, the company noted. Twenty flagship locations will offer front-of-store festivities featuring DJs, mascots, product sampling and giveaway bags. Some 120 additional stores will hand out giveaway bags and samples timed to local campus move-in dates. Target will offer dorm-room storage, decor, and bathroom essentials starting at $5, along with hundreds of stylish essentials priced under $20.
“From picking out a first-day outfit to finding the perfect sheets for your dorm, back-to-school and college is filled with so many meaningful moments, and Target is making them easier for busy families,” said Cara Sylvester, Target executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “With fresh styles, everyday essentials and incredible value all in one place, we’re helping families spend less time shopping and more time celebrating the start of a new school year.”
