Macy’s Launches Holiday Initiatives Across Its Operations

With the holidays looming and supply challenges prompting retailers to emphasize early shopping, Macy’s is launching multiple initiatives such as live shopping events that include home merchandise among other product categories offered.

Macy’s intends that the initiatives make it a preferred one-stop gift destination for the holidays, the company indicated, with easy shopping options and curated gifts from top brands at sharp prices.

Macy’s Live will offer consumers a chance to explore the latest trends, discover new products, and share special finds with friends and family, the company stated. Live weekly shopping events will give customers the chance to view products in detail, interact with hosts and Macy’s stylists via chat, enjoy real-time reviews and recommendations, and shop for their favorite items in an engaging and entertaining interactive environment, Macy’s asserted.

Following the broadcasts, Macy’s will archive each show so consumers can watch and shop on demand. Available to view on macys.com/MacysLive, each show will have a theme, with featured products including home products, fall and holiday apparel, shoes and accessories, beauty, gifts and, of course, toys.

In addition, consumers will find a new sustainability shopping experience at macys.com/s/sustainability/. There, Macy’s offers products under three categories, Women, Men and Home where the emphasis currently is on textiles and throw pillows.

Home furnishings shoppers will benefit from the expansion of Macy’s 3D Room planning service, powered by Marxent, Macy’s pointed out. The 3D room planner provides customers with virtual views of their preferred furniture and home furnishings in a custom-built room created to mirror their exact living space. In-store shoppers can access the room planner by partnering with a specially trained furniture sales staffer. Off-site, consumers can access the service via virtual consultation or the View in My Room augmented reality feature available in the Macy’s app.

As they begin holiday shopping, customers using Macy’s mobile app will find design and navigation starting on October 15, the retailer related. The app allows customers to curate their personal style, navigate stores, shop Macy’s product assortment, build favorite item lists, seamlessly checkout, and manage rewards and account details. With location enabled, app customers link to their local Macy’s store and get immediate access to price check, store maps and product availability functions as well as buy online, pickup in-store and curbside pickup. With push notifications clicked on, Macy’s will notify customers of the latest deals it’s offering, product launches and app exclusives.

Other holiday initiatives from Macy’s include:

  • Rollout of a limited-edition Urban Decay Marvel Studios’ Eternals Collection of cosmetics
  • Introduction of cosmetics from Spanish singer-songwriting Rosalia
  • Showcasing the Portfolio by De Beers Forevermark collection of responsibly sourced diamonds mounted in trending 14 karat gold designs
