Target Completing 2026 Expansion Plan With Eight Store Openings This Fall

Posted In: Retail Articles

Target Corp. plans to open eight new locations this fall — including stores in Mississippi, New York, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia — the last  of more than 30 openings planned for 2026 as the company continues to emphasize larger store formats.

The next new locations are part of Target’s $5 billion capital plan for 2026, which includes investment in new stores and in more than 130 remodels, as well as additional payroll and training to improve guest services, the company noted.

Of the eight locations slated to debut this fall, seven of the stores are larger than the 125,000-square-foot chain average. The company added it remains on track to build more than 300 new stores by 2035.

The eight new Target stores ready to open are:

  • Tupelo, MS, 148,000 square feet
  • Bridgehampton, NY, 90,000 square feet
  • Lima, OH, 128,000 square feet
  • Cookeville, TN, 128,000 square feet
  • Fort Worth, TX, 148,000 square feet
  • Katy, TX, 148,000 square feet
  • Liberty Hill, TX, 148,000 square feet
  • Norfolk, VA, 129,000 square feet

“Our continued commitment to opening new stores is really about showing up for our guests and our communities, and it starts with our incredible store team members,” said Target Chief Stores Officer Adrienne Costanzo. “These new stores give our teams the tools and environments to bring our merchandising strengths to life, create easier and more inspiring shopping experiences, and use technology to move smarter and faster every day. It’s how we keep growing thoughtfully, stay connected to our communities and make Target an even better place to work and shop.”
