RetailMeNot App Week Give Retailers, Brands Another Outlet for Shoppers

Posted In: Retail Articles

In another example of how consumer outreach is becoming more dynamic and promotions more diverse, RetailMeNot is kicking off its September 21-27 App Week initiative to entice loyal shoppers who are shifting their focus from summer to autumn events and holiday preparation.

Offered via the RetailMeNot Rewards app, the promotion connects consumers to exclusive, limited-time, cash-back offers across seven categories: home and travel to electronics, beauty, fashion, pets and sports.

App Week will spotlight new category themes each day, such as Home & Garden, and feature offers that include increased app-only cash back from popular retailers and brands, RetailMeNot stated. The App Week promotion advances the rollout of the new RetailMeNot Rewards app, which debuted in August as the latest evolution of the company’s mobile shopping operation. Since the app launch, buyers are placing 27% more orders with RetailMeNot merchant partners, the company reported. The increase suggests that consumers who engage with the app and deals it provides are returning to RetailMeNot more frequently, and spending more overall, the company added.

RetalMeNot pointed out that its App Week arrives as many shoppers are looking to get an early start on fall and holiday purchases. A RetailMeNot survey demonstrated that 63% of consumers begin holiday shopping in October or before, and 47% plan to shop earlier this year than last, the company added.

As the promotion launched on September 21, RetailMeNot readied deals under a Home & Garden theme including:

  • The Home Depot. 10% cash back sitewide;
  • Lowe’s. 14% cash back sitewide;
  • Target. 8% cash back sitewide;
  • Walmart. 8% cash back sitewide.

On September 23, the planned theme is Electronics & Smart, with deals including:

  • Vitamix. 18% cash back sitewide;
  • Best Buy. 8% cash back sitewide;
  • LG. 28% cash back sitewide;
  • Walmart. 8% cash back sitewide.

“App Week is designed around how people actually shop today,” said Stephanie Carls, RetailMeNot retail insights expert. “They want to know what’s worth buying, where they can find value and whether a deal is really a deal. And right now, shoppers have a lot to think about. Halloween and holiday shopping are already underway for many consumers, so this is a great window to get ahead of seasonal purchases, whether that’s an advent calendar, a Christmas tree, a giant skeleton or matching family pajamas. App Week gives shoppers another reason to check in, see what’s trending and save while they’re at it.”
