The Home Depot reported that it is rolling out new in-store capabilities for Magic Apron, its AI-powered shopping assistant, which can now help determine whether a product is right for its intended use and recommend the tools and supplies needed to complete a task.
Home Depot shoppers using the AI assistant can now also text questions, use voice-to-text, upload pictures, and interact in their preferred language, the company noted.
In brick-and-mortar applications, shoppers can use Magic Apron to generate maps for specific stores and quickly find product aisle and bay locations, and check product availability at that location and others. According to Home Depot, Magic Hat already fields millions of questions per month, helping customers to locate products, receive project guidance and get answers tailored to their local Home Depot stores while shopping. The AI assistant provides information tailored to each shopper’s chosen store, complementing the expertise of Home Depot associates by helping customers whenever and wherever they need it, whether shopping at any location.
