Wayfair Announces Plan for New Jersey Store While Opening Ohio Location

Posted In: Retail Articles

Wayfair reported it is planning a brick-and-mortar store in Princeton, NJ, as the company boosts its home furnishings retail presence in the Northeast.

The announcement about the Princeton Wayfair location coincides with the opening of its first store in Ohio today.  The 70,000-square-foot store in Columbus, OH, represents a smaller-format version of the superstore concept Wayfair has developed for its namesake locations. The company is preparing to open a full-sized 130,000-square-foot superstore in the Cincinnati market next year.

The Princeton, NJ, store (rendering above), which Wayfair also expects to open in 2027, is another of its larger-format builds at 135,000 square feet. The company is preparing a large-format store in Yonkers, NY, just north of New York City, at 114,000 square feet, which is set to open in early 2027. Wayfair called opening the Princeton store an important step in serving customers throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania.

Shoppers will be able to browse furniture, décor, housewares, appliances and related merchandise at the Princeton store, including a curated selection of Wayfair Verified items, with select pieces available to take home the same day, the company maintained. The company said it can deliver larger pieces quickly through Wayfair’s logistics network. Also, shoppers will have access to free design services at the Princeton store, Wayfair indicated.

“Opening in Princeton represents another exciting milestone as we continue expanding Wayfair’s physical retail presence across America,” Liza Lefkowski, Wayfair vice president of merchandising and stores. “We’re creating a destination where customers can explore inspiring spaces, experience the quality and breadth of our assortment firsthand, and seamlessly shop across online and in-store channels with the convenience and flexibility they expect from Wayfair.”
