Posted In: Retail Articles

Walmart has scheduled three major holiday shopping events in and around Black Friday and Cyber Monday while also debuting its WhoKnewVille seasonal marketing campaign.

Homewares, toys, electronics, fashion and beauty are among key categories Walmart will feature in its Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales push, with brands including Delonghi and Dyson among those featured, the company noted.

As set out by Walmart, the three designated promotions are:

  • Black Friday Deals, Event 1 running November 14–16 online and in stores
  • Black Friday Deals, Event 2 running November 25–30 but online only November 25–27
  • Cyber Monday Deals, Event 3 on December 1 one day and online only

Walmart+ members will get early access the day before each event begins for other customers, the company pointed out.

Featured deals for Event 1 include, Walmart noted:

  • Dreo 1500-Watt Portable Space Heater, was $99.99, event-priced at $38.99.
  • Dyson V12 Detect Slim Cordless Vacuum Cleaner, was $729.00, event-priced at $399.99.
  • Keurig Iced Essentials, was $79, event-priced at $44.97.
  • L’ange Hair Styler, was $119, event-priced at $48.30.
  • Philips Norelco 7200 Electric Razor, was $99.96, event priced at $79.96.

“For years, Walmart has owned Black Friday, and this year we’re proving why,” said John Furner, president and CEO, Walmart U.S. “We’re dropping up to 60% off top brands and offering thousands of deals under $20, making it clear: nobody does low prices like we do. Just like our Thanksgiving Meal Basket we’re leading on convenience and rewriting what value looks like, helping customers have their best, brightest and most budget-friendly holiday yet.”

In a LinkedIn posting, William White, Walmart chief marketing officer, explained that to promote its holiday events and other deals, Walmart has developed the WhoKnewVille campaign featuring a Dr. Seuss-inspired world to be presented across all of the retailer’s consumer-facing platforms based on the classic holiday tale How the Grinch Stole Christmas. In the campaing,  whimsical residents of WhoKnewVille struggle with holiday chaos, including the hunt for the perfect gift, and discover how Walmart can help things easier, according to the retailer.
