Target is making moves in the executive suite and across its merchandising operations as the retailer prepares for the fall and Halloween seasons.

In terms of leadership, Target appointed Grant McGee as executive vice president and chief legal and compliance officer. He had been senior vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary at Kimberly-Clark after serving in top legal roles at American Airlines and General Electric. Target also announced the election of Joe DePinto, former 7-Eleven president and CEO, to its board of directors as the company works to advance its enterprise strategy and growth.

Target is ready for fall with initiatives it’s already promoting, including exclusive K-Pop Demon Hunters costumes. Almost 70% of its Halloween assortment is new and about 60% is available only at Target, the company pointed out. Target is pricing 60% of its Halloween décor at less than $10 and half of its costumes and accessories at less than $25.

Target has incorporated much of the Halloween merchandise it’s offering into a Hyde & Eek Boutique presentation, now online, but its fall assortment also includes a new group of Hearth & Hand with Magnolia products reflecting the harvest season.

The Hyde & Eek Boutique includes costumes, home décor and housewares, including Halloween Ghosts Icon Glass drinkware (pictured top) featuring ghosts, bats and jack-o’-lanterns for $8 each, as well as pumpkin serving bowls starting at $5. Target is also highlighting its Stranger Things assortment, including an Upside Down Logo Tritan Drinking Cup for $15.98.

Target is also highlighting new Hearth & Hand with Magnolia products on its website, including stoneware appetizer plates, a red teapot and a glass tumbler with a wooden lid. The retailer is merchandising branded housewares alongside the collection, including a $499.99 Vitamix VX3 Blender in a Hearth & Hand with Magnolia-exclusive Taupe finish.

“Our guests are looking for more than simple Halloween decorations or costumes,” said Cara Sylvester, Target exclusive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “They want the latest trends, meaningful ways to celebrate with family and friends and products that reflect the fandoms they’re excited about.”
