As the company continues pursuing its store expansion strategy, Meijer has opened three new 159,000-square-foot supercenters in Austintown, Medina and Richmond Heights, OH.
Ohio has been the scene of recent supercenter growth for the company, although it has opened several stores in different, smaller formats, specifically Meijer Grocery and a design referred to as neighborhood market.
Meijer Supercenters mix grocery and perishables departments with home goods, baby, pet, beauty care, garden and apparel presentations. In addition, the new Ohio supercenters offer digital shopping solutions, including Shop & Scan, which allows customers to scan barcodes via the Meijer mobile app and bag their items as they shop. The supercenters also provide Meijer Home Delivery and Pickup services, and mPerks rewards to help customers earn as they spend.
“As a family company that’s been serving Midwest customers for 90 years, we are humbled to be able to continue bringing our unique shopping experience to more communities,” the company’s executive chairman, Hank Meijer, said in announcing the supercenter debuts. “Meijer invests in the communities we serve, and we look forward to partnering with local organizations and helping to strengthen each of these communities.”
