Kapoor Moves From Target Marketplace To Lead Shipt

Posted In: Retail Articles

Target senior vice president of marketplace Raj Kapoor is moving over to the company’s Shipt delivery and logistics subsidiary as CEO.

Kapoor was Shipt’s COO from 2022 to 2025. He has served as senior vice president of Target’s marketplace operation since 2025.

Kapoor succeeds Kamau Witherspoon, who has served as Shipt CEO for the past four years. Target said he stepped away from Shipt to pursue other career interests. The company noted that Witherspoon served more than 15 years across the Target business and will continue as Shipt CEO through late October to help ensure a smooth leadership transition.

During his time as COO, Kapoor helped build capabilities at Shipt, scale its fulfillment operation and improve quality and service across the platform, according to Target.

“Shipt’s technology, delivery expertise and commitment to service create an elevated experience for Target guests and Shipt customers,” said Sarah Travis, Shipt board chair and Target chief digital and revenue officer, in announcing the leadership transition. “As digital shopping and fulfillment become increasingly connected, Shipt’s operational strengths and innovative culture continue raising the bar for convenience, reliability and service. Raj knows this business, understands the consumer and brings commercial and operating experience to lead Shipt’s next chapter.”

Shipt, an independently operated Target subsidiary, has two primary operations: same-day delivery, which connects members to more than 120 retailers, and Target Last Mile Delivery.
