Amazon has introduced a new benefit as part of its Prime for Young Adults program: 5% cash back on dorm and apartment essentials.
Through September 15, Prime for Young Adults members can earn 5% cash back on home, kitchen and office purchases, just as they can in existing cash-back product categories including personal care, apparel and electronics.
Prime for Young Adults membership costs $7.49 per month or $69 annually, half the price of standard loyalty program dues, the company stated in a blog post. Launched in 2025, Prime for Young Adults has delivered more than $225 million in rewards to members aged 18 to 24, Amazon maintained. The company caps earnings at $100 for one purchase and $500 for one year.
Cash back on popular product categories including air purifiers, bedding, decor and storage solutions from brands such as Bissell, Dyson, Shark and Levoit can help offset the expense of setting up college dorms and apartments, Amazon said. In the kitchen, Amazon added, Prime for Young Adults can help when members go shopping for coffee makers, air fryers and related necessities from Ninja, Owala, Brita, Keurig and Breville.
As it was touting its Prime for Young Adults initiative, the company revealed that Amazon Business reached $60 billion in annualized gross sales in the second quarter of 2026 and had signed up more than 11 million organizations worldwide. In all, 1.8 million organizations joined Amazon Business in this year’s first half including hundreds of thousands of small businesses and 97 of the companies listed in the Fortune 100.
The company also has announced Dave Treadwell, current senior vice president of the E-commerce Foundation, will move over to Amazon’s AWS B2B operation and lead the Compute and ML Services team. He brings almost a decade’s experience running Amazon’s entire technology platform, one of the biggest applications in the world, and has deep expertise in running technology at scale. He replaces Dave Brown, who has decided to take a new role outside of Amazon, the company indicated.
