KitchenSupply has added to its lineup of kitchenware brands with the acquisition of Maverick Industries, a developer and marketer of digital food thermometers and grilling tools.
KitchenSupply markets housewares under such brands as Escali, The London Sip, Joyce Chen and Old Stone Pizza Kitchen.
Founded in 1981, Maverick began selling upscale grills to department stores and specialty retailers nationwide. The company expanded to include a line of digital and analog cooking thermometers designed for grilling, roasting, candy-making and frying.
Maverick is recognized for inventing the modern wireless food thermometer, according to KitchenSupply. The company has more than 25 wireless thermometer models and nine U.S. utility patents. In addition, Maverick has collaborated with organizations such as the USDA on public education campaigns about food safety and partnered with brands including Timex and Le Cordon Bleu to produce co-branded products for kitchens across the country.
Maverick’s joining of the KitchenSupply Family of Brands is intended to strengthen KitchenSupply’s commitment to providing high-quality, innovative products for home cooks and professionals alike, according to Kelly Walsh, vice president of KitchenSupply.
“Maverick brings a legacy of innovation and food safety to our family of brands,” Walsh said. “Their expertise in digital thermometry perfectly complements our existing product lines and opens exciting new opportunities for growth in the grilling and outdoor categories.”
Maverick products will continue to be available through existing retail partners and distribution channels, now supported by KitchenSupply’s expanded resources and customer service network, Walsh noted.
