Walmart Spotlights Decor, Storage in Back-to-School Push

With 99% of students expected to return to in-person learning this year, Walmart is touting back-to-school discounts for classroom and dorm.

For the first time, the company is launching a digital tool that it is promoting in a blog post as a means to make it easier for students and their parents to find furniture for college spaces. Walmart’s new AR home experience, “View in your Space,” gives customers the ability to see how furniture pieces will look or fit in their dorms or apartments before purchasing. Also, Walmart is providing a new digital college checklist tool designed to make it easier to shop for whatever students need for campus.

For first-time and returning college students, Walmart is highlighting its Mainstays faux fur butterfly folding chair, at $35 on the website, as well as a Mainstays faux houseplant elephant planter decoration and clear acrylic desk organization solutions from The Home Edit, among other items. For younger students and parents, Walmart is offering items such as a Crayola 20 Count Broad Line Classic Markers set for $5.37 and a Pen + Gear Medium Planner for $2.64 among its school return deals.

At the same time, Walmart is providing new tech products for less than $100, such as the onn. bluetooth on-ear headphones. Walmart is focusing on teachers, too with deals on supplies, home organization, tech and more, the company noted. For convenience, the retailer has made more back-to-school items available for pickup and delivery this year, Walmrt added.
