Walgreens, Ace Slate October Initiatives To Take On Competitor Promotions

Walgreens and Ace Hardware are each planning fall promotions in a season that has been filled with promotions as retailing in the United States adapts to Amazon and its autumn Prime Big Deals Days on October 10-11.

After a similar initiative in July, Walgreens launched myW days member exclusive event on October 4 to continue through October 7, offering bargains and Walgreens Cash rewards in-store and online, the company stated. Members can clip offers to their myWalgreens account at walgreens.com/mywdays. During the event,  myW members can receive a $20 Walgreens Cash reward bonus when getting a vaccination and spending $1 or more on their next in-store purchase. They also can earn 15% Walgreens Cash rewards on all eligible purchases made in-store, online or on the Walgreens app, and receive $25 Walgreens Cash rewards when opening a myWalgreens Credit Card and making a purchase within 45 days. 

Walgreens also scheduled daily deals including:

  • Wednesday, October 4. myW members earn 15% Walgreens Cash rewards on the company’s private label products
  • Thursday, October 5. Members receive $10 Walgreens Cash rewards when they spend $30 or more on a 30-minute pickup or 1-hour delivery order
  • Friday, October 6. Online only, members can take an extra 25% off $20 with code WAG25 or an extra 30% off $60 with code WAG30 on purchases sitewide
  • Saturday, October 7. Members score a $20 Walgreens Cash reward when they spend $45 or more on eligible purchases made in-store, online or on the Walgreens app

“We saw high engagement and a positive response from customers and team members for the July myW days event,” said Linh Peters, Walgreens chief marketing officer, in announcing the promotional effort. “We are building on this excitement by offering another chance for accelerated earning of Walgreens Cash rewards ahead of the holiday season. In addition to offering rewards on store purchases and pickup/delivery, we have a rich offer in place to encourage vaccinations for COVID-19, flu, RSV, and pneumonia and reward those proactively protecting themselves and others.”

Ace maintained that it considered its fall promotion as an opportunity to show customers the company’s appreciation. Ace Rewards Days will run for the fifth year in a row. The two-day event, on October 10-11, will generate exclusive online deals and special bonus offers for Ace Rewards Members. Ace noted that its membership program is free to join at acehardware.com/acerewards.

Members can access deals on categories including outdoor power equipment and tools, grills and accessories, outdoor lighting and décor, outdoor storage and sheds, the company indicated.
