U.S. Comp Gains Propel Costco Sales in July

Costco Wholesale Corp. posted net sales of $23.12 billion in July versus $20.89 billion for the month a year earlier. 

July comparable sales, excluding the effect of gasoline price and foreign exchange volatility, were up 6.9% in the United States year over year, 4.9% in Canada and 6.6% in other international markets for a company-wide comp gain of 6.6%, Costco reported. Digitally enabled comps advanced 18.2% from July 2025.

In a conference call, Costco said traffic in the U.S. was up 3.3% in the month year over year.

By region, comps gained most in the Midwest, Southeast and San Diego. As for merchandising categories, Non-Foods comps were up in the mid-single digits, led by jewelry, home furnishings and housewares. Food & Sundries comps were up in the low- to mid-single digits, while those for Fresh Foods were up mid-single digits
