Couples are acting as their own creative directors as they plan their weddings, and silver and silver-toned flatware are making a comeback when it comes to wedding gifts, according to The Knot 2027 Wedding Trends Report.
The wedding platform pointed that after years of gold-colored domination in everything from fashion to home, silver is experiencing a renewal. Searches for silver/silver-toned flatware, platinum/platinum-toned jewelry and cool-toned decor rose 133% year-over-year, with a “sterling shift” also showing up across accessories, stationery, dinnerware and tablescapes, The Knot reported.
The trend has been driven by a combination of rising global gold prices and a heavy wave of 1990s and Y2K nostalgia, transforming the icy solver hue from a basic neutral into a bold, high-fashion statement, according to The Knot.
Heritage as romance is making a major wedding return as well, with searches focused on traditional items, antique lace and Victorian revival details included, up 280% year-over-year, The Knot reported.
Couples are taking inspiration from fine art such as Monet water lilies, Gustav Klimt pieces and stained glass aesthetics, with associated searches rising 195% year-over-year. Then searches related to balletcore and Swan Lake styling climbed by 106%.
Tying it all together is personalization, which The Knot characterizes as the rise of the personal wedding brand. Searches for custom crests, monograms and weekend-long storytelling are up 100% year-over-year.
The renewal theme, The Knot reported, touches on the registry, as couples request old-school cocktail glasses, throwback camcorders and vintage-style record players with modern capabilities, along with upgraded home items they see themselves using for years to come. At the same time, 72% of couples register for some form of cash to assist with honeymoon funding, the most common reason for requesting cash, along with having the flexibility to purchase exactly what they want or need..
