Posted In: Retail Articles

Neighborhood Intelligence, with the departure of CFO Brian LaRose, has appointed Paul Kosturos, a managing director at consultancy and business services provider Alvarez & Marsal, as its interim CFO.

The move comes the day after the Bed Bath & Beyond parent announced a direct stock offering as it continues to strengthen its financial leadership and accelerate the integration and right-sizing of its businesses, the company reported. Neighborhood Intelligence also announced it mutually agreed with Fathom Holdings to call off a merger of the business due to insufficient market valuation.

In addition, Neighborhood Intelligence indicated it has retained ICR, a corporate communications and advisory firm, to lead investor relations efforts and support the company’s shareholder and investment community engagement.

Brian LaRose who served as CFO of The Container Store and became finance chief at Neighborhood Intelligence after it acquired the organization specialist has left the company. Kosturos joins Neighborhood Intelligence, the company noted, at a time when it has been strengthening the finance organization, including through the hiring of Jill Windrum as chief accounting officer and deputy CFO, and Emma Haugh as retail CFO.

Neighborhood Intelligence reported the company has expanded its strategic relationship with Alvarez & Marsal to provide specialized expertise across finance and accounting, technology consolidation and organizational structure. After an Alvarez & Marsal comprehensive supply chain assessment, Neighborhood Intelligence maintained, the company has reconfigured its supply chain team and strategy to accelerate improvements in inventory flow, distribution, fulfillment and efficiency. Since the July 11 closing of The Container Store transaction, Neighborhood Intelligence has also been rebalancing and rebuilding inventory to support sales objectives, it added, while beginning to exit several dozen locations, with those closures slated for completion by year’s end.

So far in 2026, the combined companies have removed more than $50 million of SG&A, Neighborhood Intelligence asserted, as each business has taken steps to improve its individual cost structure. The company has identified at least $30 million of additional savings opportunities through contract consolidation and renegotiation, technology consolidation, organizational simplification and elimination of unnecessary duplication.

“Our focus is to simplify the business, flatten the organization and remove unnecessary costs while continuing to grow revenue and expand margin,” said Marcus Lemonis, Neighborhood Intelligence executive chairman and CEO.. “We have made meaningful progress, and we are assembling the right team and expertise to continue that work.”

Kosturos brings more than 30 years of finance and accounting experience to Neighborhood Intelligence, the company maintained, including public company leadership, financial integration, organizational redesign and working-capital management. Windrum has almost 25 years of finance and accounting experience including at Maxar Technologies, she held multiple CFO roles, including interim CFO during Maxar’s acquisition by Advent International. Haugh gained extensive operational finance experience at PepsiCo, including in supply chain and capital planning, P&L transformation, retail sales finance and warehouse economics, according to Neighborhood Intelligence.
