Neighborhood Intelligence Strikes Deal To Establish ‘Beyond Credit Union’

Posted In: Retail Articles

Neighborhood Intelligence has struck a deal to launch the Beyond Credit Union as its financial arm in a move by the renamed owner of the Bed Bath & Beyond retail operation to further its strategy to become a comprehensive resource serving consumers in their domestic lives.

The deal with Alliant Credit Union is a long-term strategic partnership, Neighborhood Intelligence maintained, that will establish a consumer financial services platform that can make home ownership simpler and less costly. The Beyond Credit Union will support what Neighborhood Intelligence  characterizes as the “Everything Home” ecosystem, which includes connecting financial products, education, tools and resources throughout a home ownership lifecycle from preparing to buy and financing a purchase to maintaining, improving and protecting property value.

As planned, the Beyond Credit Union will offer checking and savings accounts, credit cards, personal loans, mortgages, home equity products, rewards integration and other financial services.

Neighborhood Intelligence will embed Beyond Credit Union throughout the company portfolio including the retail segment consisting of Bed Bath & Beyond, The Container Store, Overstock, buybuy BABY and Kirkland’s. Alliant will be the exclusive provider of financial services extended through Beyond Credit Union, retaining responsibility for underwriting, credit decisions, rates, fees and financial institution operations.

The Beyond Credit Union launch should come in the first quarter of 2027, Neighborhood Intelligence noted. Before the formal launch, Neighborhood Intelligence and Alliant will unveil programs and initiatives designed to help aspiring and current homeowners save money and make better financial decisions. The agreement has an initial five-year term and gives Neighborhood Intelligence a meaningful economic participation in the program, the company pointed out, including revenue generated as the program grows and scales.

“Every dollar matters for Americans who aspire to own a home or currently own one,” said Marcus Lemonis, Neighborhood Intelligence executive chairman and CEO. “We need to develop financial products that provide both flexibility and value, while giving consumers the education, tools and resources to make better decisions. Beyond Credit Union is about helping people save smarter, borrow smarter and manage the cost of their home more intelligently.”

Amy Sullivan, Neighborhood Intelligence president, added the Alliant deal creates an asset-light partnership, allowing minimal company investment.

“By connecting relevant financial products with tens of millions of customers across our brands, we believe we can unlock meaningful lifetime value and create a new, scalable revenue stream across our ecosystem,” Sullivan said.
