Meijer Launches October Sales Event Amid Fall Push

Posted In: Retail Articles

As it looks ahead to autumn, Meijer has been busy launching promotions, gathering intel on the spooky season and opening stores.

Meijer has launched what it calls Good Deal Day$, a one-week savings event running through Tuesday, October 13, that offers shoppers hundreds of limited-time deals across almost every department in the store, the company said.

Featured deals include up to $70 off select small appliances. Online, Meijer is flagging the promotion on its homepage with offers such as a Crockpot CNC Manual Alpaca 6-quart for $34.99 down from $49.99. Other homewares deals include a Bissell CleanView Max Lift-off Vacuum for $149.99 down from $199.99, a Keurig K-Express Single Serve Cup Pod Coffee Maker for $69.99 down from $109.99, a Grand Gourmet Ceramic Dutch Oven with Lid, 7-quart, at $45.99 down from $65.99, and a Contigo Aubrey Leak-Proof Spill-Proof Insulated Stainless Steel Water Bottle, 13 ounce, for $14.39 down from $23.99. Meijer also is offering an assortment of Yankee Candle medium pillars for $14.99 down from $24.99.

Meanwhile, Meijer revealed the results of a survey conducted in its Midwest market area, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, about how shoppers plan to approach Halloween. Seven in 10 survey respondents said they would celebrate the holiday. However, as inflation pressures household budgets, 25% of respondents said they plan to spend less on Halloween this year as they hunt for value. Still, Halloween generates an atmosphere of whimsy even in an uncertain economic environment, or so the survey indicates: One in three respondents reported plans to dress up their pets for Halloween this year.

As for stores, Meijer opened a new 159,000-square-foot supercenter in Plymouth Township, MI, on September 30. The company opened a 75,000-square-foot Meijer Grocery store in Fishers, IN, on the same date. The opening brings the total number of Meijer Grocery stores, a recently developed format that complements the company’s core supercenter portfolio, to six in the Midwest and two in Indiana.
