Former Walmart executive Mark Ibbotson will join The Kroger Co. as executive vice president and chief store operations officer, effective September 14.
Ibbotson was a senior advisor for McKinsey & Co. before joining Kroger, the company noted. He previously served as Walmart executive vice president of central operations and realty and began his career with Walmart working for its ASDA subsidiary in the United Kingdom prior to the spin-off of that operation.
“Mark (Ibbotson) has done this work at scale, and he has done it exceptionally well,” said Greg Foran, Kroger CEO. “He knows what it takes to simplify complex operations, bring out the best in frontline teams and build the digital and physical capabilities that win with customers.”
