Costco Wholesale Corp, after a solid August, reported net sales for its full fiscal year came in 10.2% ahead of the 2025 total.

August sales at Costco were $23.70 billion versus $21.56 billion in the year-previous month, the company noted. Comparable sales — excluding the effects of gasoline price and foreign exchange volatility — increased 5.4% for the company, with operations in the United States up 5.6%, those in Canada up 2.8% and those in other international markets up 6.8%. Digitally enabled comps gained 17.9%.

The company noted how the Labor Day holiday shifted from August to September in 2026, a move that negatively impacted August total and comps by just under 75 basis points. Traffic increased 2.3% in the U.S. during the month, the company stated in a conference call.

For the full 52-week fiscal year, net sales were $297.3 billion, up from $269.9 billion in the year-earlier period. Company comparable sales, without fuel and foreign exchange effects, were up 6.6% year over year, with the U.S. up 6.6%, Canada up 6.7% and other international markets up 6.5%. Digitally enabled comps advanced 20.7%.

By region in August, comps grew most in Southeast, San Diego and the Midwest, the company indicated. By merchandise category, Non Foods comps gained in the mid single digits, with better-performing segments including home furnishings, sporting goods and jewelry. Food & Sundries comps were up in the low single digits, while Fresh Foods comps were up in the mid single digits.
