Costco Wholesale Corp., for the five weeks of fiscal June, reported net sales of $26.44 billion versus $24.48 billion a year earlier as comparable sales continued to rise.
In the five-week June period, Costco comparable sales, excluding the effects of fuel and foreign exchange volatility, gained 5.5% in the United States, 7.9% in Canada and 8.2% in other international markets, the company reported. Total company comps were up 6.2%. E-commerce increased 11.2%.
Costco operates 907 warehouse clubs including 624 in the U.S and Puerto Rico, 109 in Canada, 41 in Mexico, 37 in Japan, 29 in the United Kingdom, 20 in Korea, 15 in Australia, 14 in Taiwan, seven in China, five in Spain, two in France, two in Sweden, and one each in Iceland and New Zealand. The company operates e-commerce websites in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Mexico, Korea, Taiwan, Japan and Australia.
