Amazon Tips Off Extended Prime Day July 8 With an Assist From LeBron James

Posted In: Retail Articles

Amazon will launch this summer’s Prime Day promotional event on July 8 at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time, beginning a four-day promotion supported by an advertising campaign starring pro basketball star LeBron James.

By extending the summer Prime Day promotion to 96 hours, Amazon will provide its Prime loyalty members with twice as much time as previous summer promotions, covering a wide range of product categories, including home and housewares.

This year, Amazon is introducing “Today’s Big Deals” into the Prime Day event, offering members daily deal drops across top brands beginning at midnight Pacific Time and continuing while supplies last. Deals dropping will kick off as often as every five minutes during select periods throughout the Prime Day event.

To catch consumer attention, National Basketball Association star James (pictured above) is featured in a new Prime Day ad campaign. In the ads, James ponders how Prime Day deals can help him figure out what’s next in his career.

Prime Day will include savings on LeBron’s brand, The Shop Men’s Grooming Line, as well as deals from a variety of creator and celebrity brands, such as Lemme, INBLOOM and The Honest Company.

In an economic environment where many consumers worry about spending, Prime Day shoppers will also find back-to-school and off-to-college deals, including school tech starting at $15 and savings up to 40% off educational supplies, plus exclusive bargains covering categories such as home, fashion, laptops and books.
