Dallas Market Center (DMC) has created the Bill Winsor Retailing Scholarship, an endowed scholarship at Texas A&M University honoring the former DMC president, CEO and chairman emeritus who passed away in December of 2024.
The scholarship will support upperclassmen in Texas A&M’s Mays School of Business and the Center for Retailing Studies planning to pursue careers in retail or wholesale. It was established through a grassroots campaign by colleagues and friends who were inspired by Winsor’s leadership, entrepreneurial vision and belief in the power of commerce, according to DMC. Fundraising for the scholarship is guided by a steering committee of industry leaders: George Kacic, CEO of Margins USA; Chuck Fraelich, president of Tag; Alison Dodson, owner of retailer A. Dodson’s; Troy Lee, president of Savoy House; Maria Mullen, CEO of Hubbardton Forge; Rick Seidman, CEO of Quoizel; and Roxie Orms of Clint Orms Engravers and Silversmiths.
“Bill was passionate about entrepreneurship and the power of retail to support communities across the U.S.,” said Cindy Morris, DMC president and CEO. “He also mentored generations of professionals and this scholarship will continue that legacy by supporting future leaders in retail.”
The scholarship, planned to be endowed at $100,000 or more, is administered by the Texas A&M Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations toward the scholarship are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. More information, including giving options, is available at www.dallasmarketcenter.com/billwinsor.
Winsor joined DMC in 1993 following his leadership at Infomart. He helped grow DMC into a leading B2B wholesale marketplace, overseeing thousands of trade events encompassing home décor, lighting, apparel, gifts and housewares.
