Williams Sonoma Introducing Collection Crafted with Interior Designer Bridges

Posted In: Retail Articles

Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home have launched a new and exclusive collaboration with award-winning interior designer Sheila Bridges that includes barware, a tray, throw pillows, fireplace items and décor pieces.

Bridges crafted the collection in partnership with the Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home design teams, according to parent company Williams-Sonoma. The products embrace a shared appreciation for timeless design and quality craftsmanship, with select pieces also celebrating the designer’s original Harlem Toile de Jouy artwork that Bridges developed while decorating her own home.

Intrigued and inspired by the historical narrative of the decorative arts, especially the traditional French toile with its pastoral motifs from the late 1700s, Bridges began developing a toile that honored her own Harlem neighborhood in New York. Harlem Toile de Jouy artwork has become an iconic symbol of Bridges’ design aesthetic and has been featured in notable museums around the world, Williams-Sonoma pointed out. Bridges worked with Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home on fresh interpretations and applications of the artwork for products in the new collection.

Among others, the Sheila Bridges for Williams Sonoma Collection includes:

  • Harlem Toile Glassware, crowned with a hand-painted 22-karat gold rim and including double old fashioned, highball, and mixing glasses features a Harlem-inspired Toile de Jouy made of mouth-blown glass. The glassware sells for $49.95 in a set of four.
  • The Harlem Toile Cocktail Shaker is made of stainless steel with a polished brass finish and enamel decorated with detailed illustrations. The shaker sells for $49.95.
  • The Harlem Toile Tray, trimmed in polished brass, is handcrafted and made of enameled and lacquered stainless steel. The tray sells for $99.95.
  • The Harlem Toile Print & Embroidered Pillows celebrate the rich heritage of African American culture and are rendered in layers of brilliant color and embellished with hand-stitched embroidery on silk. The pillows are priced at $195.
  • The Fireplace Tool Set includes a stand and three utensils made of welded steel and sporting a warm bronze finish. The set is priced at $495.
  • The Turned Walnut Picture Frames feature signature beaded frames crafted of walnut. The frames are priced at $145.

“Sheila’s use of color and her ability to blend time periods, patterns and various design aesthetics into her work has been a source of inspiration for our design teams throughout the years,” said Williams Sonoma and Williams Sonoma Home president, Felix Carbullido, in announcing the collection rollout. “We are thrilled that our new collaboration with Sheila will provide an opportunity for our customers to feature products that showcase aspects of her signature style in their homes.”

Bridges added, “I love that toile patterns tell stories, and as an interior designer, I think of myself as a visual storyteller. I wanted to see a toile that was more representative of my life and included people of color, so I decided to design one for myself. I think everyone wants to figure out a way to express their own sense of personal style in their homes, and I think this collection can help people to do that.”
