The holiday sales event season is shifting into full gear as Walmart and Best Buy have announced major promotional initiatives.

First Amazon announced Prime Big Deals Days on October 10 and 11 then Target announced its latest Circle Week for October 1-7 Now Walmart is making headlines with its online-only event launching December 9 at 7 p.m. and continuing through October 12.

Already, a banner on its website declares Walmart Deals Holiday Kickoff and major deals coming soon. For those who just can’t wait, the Walmart page the banner points to is the retailer’s web deals page, already filled with price promotions including $170 off a Dyson V8 Origin+ Cordless Vacuum with a new price of $249.99 and a Cosori Pro II 5.8-Quart Smart Air Fryer, 12-in-1, $10 off with a new price of $89.

For its part, Best Buy is kicking off a month-long promotional schedule on October 1 dedicated to helping customers get the most out of their holiday shopping with special purchase rewards, exclusive sale events with popular brands including Samsung and Microsoft, and access to deeper discounts for Plus and Total members, the company stated.

Each day in October, Plus and Total members will get exclusive access to thousands of deals and discounts on the tech. Members who spend $500 in October will receive a $50 reward certificate to use on Best Buy purchases during December. The retailer will end the month by giving members early access to some of its best Black Friday deals from October 27 to 29.

Among the other deals it is offering, Best Buy will have a 48-hour Flash Sale going from October 10 to 11, with hundreds of deals across tech and other product categories.

Best Buy added that holiday shoppers would discover expanded assortments in designated categories, with, for example, more than 5,000 health and wellness products, including a lineup of fitness, recovery, beauty, skincare, baby tech and other items from brands such as Whoop and Therabody. It also is offering an expanded selection in outdoor living, at 2,000 products, including twice as many outdoor cooking brands versus 2022 and items such as Ooni pizza ovens, Traeger pellet grills, Pit Boss griddles and Yardbird furniture.
