In a boost to its membership program, Target Corp. is leveraging its affiliation with Shipt to remove same-day-delivery price markups from more than 100 third-party marketplace retailers and grocers beyond Target’s own operations.
With the initiative, the company asserted it intends to transform the Target Circle 360 membership into an access point for what has become a digital shopping center that includes retailers aligned with Target’s affiliated Shipt delivery service. As such, Target can help busy members get much of what they might need via same-day delivery, including its private-label essential items and favorites from local stores, delivered the same day via the Shipt network, now without the price markups previously charged.
Although same-day delivery from Target itself has always been free from price markups, the new membership benefit makes the quick drop-off service easier and more affordable across the array of retailers partnering with Shipt, it stated. With the change,Target Circle 360 members get unlimited same-day delivery from third-parting retailers that participate in the Target and Shipt curated marketplace, which includes national and regional retailers such as CVS, PetSmart, Lowe’s Cos., Hy-Vee, Lowes Foods and Giant Eagle.
“From the start, Target Circle 360 has been about building strong relationships with our guests and growing with them to deliver more value and ease,” said Cara Sylvester, Target executive vice president and chief guest experience officer. “We’ve never charged markups on same-day delivery from Target, and now Target Circle 360 members can exclusively enjoy this no-markup benefit from more than 100 retailers and grocers across Shipt’s network, too. We’ve built a true digital shopping center experience.”
