Pottery Barn Teen Rolls Out Back to College Support

Posted In: Retail Articles

The Williams-Sonoma Pottery Barn Teen banner is launching new digital tools and an enhanced shopping and design service experience for dorm essentials, including bedding, bath, storage and décor.

Consumers can use the tools to shop the banner’s largest dorm collection to date online, in-store and on the Pottery Barn Teen mobile app, Williams-Sonoma noted. The new digital tools, including the Build My Bed 3D visualizer and Ultimate Dorm Wishlist feature, are up and running on the Pottery Barn Teen mobile app and website.

The Build My Bed Visualizer guides the customer step-by-step through a 3D rendering of each layer of a twin XL bed, from sheets and decorative pillows to choosing a headboard. The feature uses proprietary augmented reality technology that enables customers to spin and zoom on true-life imagery of the bed so they can see it from every angle.

Other features include:

  • The Ultimate Dorm Wishlist.  Available on the Pottery Barn Teen app and website, the one-stop shop keeps track of dorm room needs. A collaborator feature allows both parents and teens to add items and share the wishlist with gift-givers or roommates.
  • Pick Up Near Campus. Customers can purchase dorm room items online early and set a date in the future to pick them up from any Williams Sonoma, West Elm, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids or Pottery Barn Teen store near their college destination. When a customer selects a college or university, the nearest store will automatically populate and even hold items for 30 days after the selected pick-up date.
  • Dorm Design Services. Pottery Barn Teen now offers free dorm design help for anyone who wants styling assistance or support in selecting the best essential items. Consumers can make an appointment either virtually or in person with a dorm expert who can help with layout and design direction as well as order placement and final delivery.
  • Expanded Assortment. The collection includes new styles of twin XL bedding, no-nail headboards, décor, bath and storage. Pottery Barn Teen has expanded its popular collaboration with fashion brand LoveShackFancy to provide trend-forward dorm essentials.

“We want to make outfitting a dorm a seamless and enjoyable experience,” said Jennifer Kellor, president, Pottery Barn Teen, in announcing the college living initiatives. “With the launch of our new digital functionalities and services, we are proud to offer our customers an enhanced dorm shopping experience from start to finish.”
