Pantone has announced its Color of the Year 2026: Cloud Dancer. The airy white color symbolizes a calming influence in a society rediscovering the value of quiet reflection, according to Pantone.

The Pantone Color Institute created the Pantone Color of the Year educational program to engage the design community and color enthusiasts in a conversation about color, connecting how global culture is expressed to how it is reflected in color. The Color of the Year is one that Pantone sees growing in importance across all areas of design and can communicate the color message that best showcases what’s happening in culture. It serves as an expression of a mood and attitude, reflecting what people look for and what qualities they feel need that color to answer, the institute said.

“At this time of transformation, when we are imagining our future and our place in the world, Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer is a discrete white hue offering a promise of clarity,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “The cacophony that surrounds us has become overwhelming, making it harder to hear the voices of our inner selves. A conscious statement of simplification, Cloud Dancer enhances our focus, providing release from the distraction of external influences.”

In a world where color has become synonymous with personal expression, the Cloud Dancer white shade can adapt, harmonize, and create contrast, bringing a feeling of airy lightness to product applications and environments, whether used standalone or combined with other hues, according to Pantone.

“Pantone 11-4201 Cloud Dancer embodies a shift in how we live and design,” added Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Color Institute. “An airy white hue, Cloud Dancer exemplifies our search for balance between our digital future and our primal need for human connection.”

Pantone has collaborated with a number of brands on Cloud Dancer,  including Joybird furniture, Mandarin Oriental tea sets and oxygenating spa treatments, Play-Doh, Motorola, Pura scent diffusers, Command hooks/strips and Post-it Notes.
