Oxo, a brand under the housewares segment of Helen of Troy, has announced new partners as part of its ongoing commitment to 1% for the Planet.

1% for the Planet is a global community of brands that give back to environmental non-profits to drive positive impact. Through expanding its partnerships with eight new grantees, Oxo has become the network’s leading housewares brand and the largest corporate donor of 1% for the Planet.

Among the nonprofit grantees are four international partners from France, Germany, Japan and the UK, and four grantees in the United States. The partners include:

  • City Blossoms, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that enhances local communities through child-driven gardens.
  • FareShare, a London-based network that redistributes surplus food to community groups and food banks across the UK.
  • Food Recovery Network, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit made up of 4,000 college students, dining providers, food suppliers, and local businesses focused on food recovery to provide surplus food to those in need in the U.S. all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Harlem Grown, based in Harlem, NY, provides mentorship and hands-on education on urban farming, sustainability and nutrition for the Harlem youth.
  • Mellifera e.V., based in Germany, promotes good beekeeping practices through fostering the protection of bees and their habitats.
  • The Nature Conservation Society of Japan, a Tokyo-based nonprofit, focuses on protecting threatened species and ecosystems.
  • Urban Sprouts, based in San Francisco, Calif., operates five community gardens and education programs to provide young people with practical tools and work experience.
  • Veni Verdi, a Paris-based nonprofit, creates school vegetable gardens to raise awareness among the next generation of growers.

“Our new 1% for the Planet partners are a powerhouse group of nonprofits tackling big environmental concerns day in and day out,” said Indigo Teiwes, director of corporate responsibility at Helen of Troy.

“We are thrilled about the partnerships they are developing with an incredible set of nonprofits in our network, which showcase OXO’s role as a model for how companies of all sizes can integrate giving into their business and sustainability plan in highly effective, impactful ways,” said Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet.
