Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, set to launch a special event August 11 in celebration National Bargain Hunting Week, announced results of annual survey indicating why consumers shop Ollie’s and other off-price retailers.

The company conducted a survey of more than 20,000 Ollie’s Army loyalty program members. Almost 90% of respondents to the survey believed finding a good deal is essential or very important to managing household budgets, Ollie’s noted. In addition, more than half of the respondents said they are comparing prices between retailers and choosing to shop at discount stores such as Ollie’s more often.

Other highlights from the survey include:

  • 80% of the respondents cited savings they expected in comparison to other retail channels as the key reason to keep coming back to Ollie’s.
  • 55% of respondents said they stock up when they find a good deal.
  • 87% of respondents acknowledged that they can’t wait to tell their friends and family about the deals they found.
  • 90% of respondents stated that they shop at Ollie’s at least once a month.
  • 85% of the respondents maintained that they can find hard-to-beat deals on favorite brands at Ollie’s.

“Ollie’s was founded over 43 years ago with the sole purpose of selling Good Stuff Cheap,” said Eric van der Valk, Ollie’s president and CEO. “This survey confirms what we see each and every day in our stores. Shoppers are looking for relief from higher prices, and they trust Ollie’s to deliver real brands, real bargains. At a time when consumers need it most, we are delivering unprecedented value through an ever-changing selection of brands Americans know and trust with prices you can only find at Ollie’s.”
