Meijer Opens New Stores in Three Midwestern States

Posted In: Retail Articles

Meijer has opened two supercenters and a smaller-format grocery store across three Midwestern states.

The company officially opened a new 159,000-square-foot supercenter in Brownsburg, IN, near Indianapolis, on May 6. It is the 44th Meijer store in the Hoosier State.

At the same time, Meijer debuted a 159,000-square-foot supercenter in Bainbridge Township, Ohio, southeast of Cleveland. It is the 59th Meijer store in the Buckeye State.

Meijer emphasized value and convenience in announcing the openings.

“As a family company that’s been serving Midwest customers for more than 90 years, we are honored to be able to continue bringing value and convenience to more customers,” executive chairman Hank Meijer said as the supercenters bowed. “We understand that value is more important now than ever before, and we remain dedicated to ensuring Meijer customers are getting the best prices on quality items in one easy stop.”

The new Meijer grocery, a 47,000-square-foot store in Rochester Hills, MI, offers a smaller general merchandise assortment than the company’s traditional supercenters, focusing more on everyday necessities. Rochester Hills is the fourth Meijer Grocery format store, designed to provide quicker in-and-out shopping than a supercenter, and the third the company operates in its home state of Michigan.

“We’re excited to bring our streamlined shopping experience to more customers in Rochester Hills for added convenience closer to home,” Hank Meijer noted. “In addition to convenience, we know value is more important now than ever before, and our team will continue working diligently to ensure customers will find quality items at the best prices.”
