In the aftermath of posting May sales gains, Costco Wholesale Corp. stated in a filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission that Dan Hines is retiring as senior vice president and corporate controller and principal accounting officer, and Tiffany Barbre is stepping into the role.
Barbre was Costco’s vice president, assistant corporate controller, the company noted.
For the fiscal month of May, Costco reported net sales of $20.97 billion versus $19.64 billion in the period a year previous. With the effects of changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange excluded, comparable sales were up 5.5% in the United States, 6.3% in Canada, 8.4% in other international markets and 6% for the company overall. E-commerce comps gained 12%, Costco maintained.
