Bed Bath & Beyond Reworks Loyalty Program

Posted In: Retail Articles

In a new loyalty program initiative, Bed Bath & Beyond has debuted Welcome Rewards, a program that offers savings, benefits and special perks to customers who shop online and in stores nationwide at the company’s namesake stores as well as, buybuy BABY, and Harmon.

In a separate move, Bed Bath & Beyond also is adding a buy now, pay later purchasing option, the company stated.

Welcome Rewards gives consumers the chance to get and redeem points across all three retail banners on every purchase, with no exclusions, every time they shop. Consumers can sign up for the program at Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy BABY and Harmon sites, as well as through each banner’s app. It will roll out to all stores in the coming weeks, Bed Bath & Beyond announced.

The program has multiple levels arranged as:

  • Welcome Rewards. A free tier to join, Welcome Rewards offers 10 points for every $1 spent, 5,000 free points by signing up through July 31, free standard shipping for all online purchases for the first 7 days with no minimum purchase and free standard shipping thereafter for orders of $39 or more.
  • Welcome Rewards+. For a $29 annual fee, Welcome Rewards+ offers 15% off total purchases, an extra 5% off by receiving 50 points for every $1 spent, 10,000 free points by signing up through July 31, free standard shipping for all online purchases and four times per year free same-day delivery with no minimum purchase.
  • Welcome Rewards Credit Card. The no annual fee Welcome Rewards Credit Card deal offers one free year of Welcome Rewards+, 15% off total purchases, an extra 10% off from receiving 100 points for every $1 spent at Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy BABY or Harmon, free standard shipping for all online purchases and four times per year free same-day delivery with no minimum purchase.

Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy BABY and Harmon websites and mobile apps offer a Welcome Rewards dashboard that gives customers easy access to available points and rewards, exclusive benefits, birthday rewards and other features. Over time, customers can expect Bed Bath & Beyond to unveil new components, including early access to new products, sales events, exclusive events and expert reviews.

In step with the Welcome Rewards launch, an ‘open the door to more’ integrated marketing campaign will launch in-store and online marketing, including email, organic and paid social media ads, digital video, SMS and related marketing.

Welcome Rewards, Welcome Rewards+ members, and Welcome Rewards Credit Card holders can choose to apply a Bed Bath & Beyond, buybuy BABY or Harmon coupon as part of their transaction and still earn points for the entire purchase, the company noted. For example, Welcome Rewards+ members can elect to apply a 20% off a single item coupon and still get 15% off the rest of their eligible items while also earning 50 points per dollar for their entire transaction.

As it reconfigures its loyalty program, Bed Bath & Beyond also is introducing a pay-in-four option, Welcome Pay. With Welcome Pay, customers can pay for purchases in four installments with new interest or other changes as long as they pay on time. Welcome Rewards or Welcome Rewards+ members choosing Welcome Pay at checkout at the Bed Bath & Beyond banners will receive an additional 10 points per dollar. Beyond+ loyalty program members can transfer their memberships to Welcome Rewards+ and get immediate access to the program’s benefits and perks.

“Our new Welcome Rewards program allows our customers to get even greater value, benefits and perks whenever and wherever they shop with us,” said Rafeh Masood, Bed Bath & Beyond executive vp and chief customer officer. “More than 80% of our customers shared that they would be excited for a program that would allow them to earn rewards across all of our banners. Now, they can do just that, and without any exclusions on earning points, customers can also quickly gain rewards that will make shopping for everything from special occasions to everyday essentials even more affordable.”
