Amazon Adding 150,000 Holiday Jobs As It Starts Promotional Push

As holiday delivery days approach, Amazon is preparing by hiring 150,000 employees throughout the United States even as it prepares an early season sales event.

The company announced it is hiring full-time, seasonal, and part-time workers across its operations network in roles that include packing, picking, sorting and shipping. Employees can earn, on average, more than $19 per hour based on position and location in the U.S.

Amazon is hiring for positions across the country, the company noted, but the states with the greatest number of available jobs include California, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Oregon, Texas, Tennessee, Utah and Washington.

“We’re proud to offer a wide variety of roles for people of all backgrounds, with more than 150,000 roles available across the country. Whether someone is looking for some extra money for a few months or a long-term career, the holidays are a great time for people to join Amazon, and many of our seasonal employees return year after year or transition into full-time roles,” said John Felton, Amazon’s senior vp of worldwide operations.

In a sneak peek of its Prime Early Access Sale, slated for October 11 to 12, Amazon has provided a preview of exclusive deals set for Prime members on its core site and from its marketplace merchants as well.

The Prime Early Access deals include:

  • Up to 50% off select electric toothbrushes from Oral-B and Philips Sonicare
  • Up to 45% off select vacuums from Shark and iRobot
  • Up to 40% off select products from Keurig
  • Up to 40% off select Ninja products
  • Up to 40% off select Vitamix blenders
