New IHA State of the Industry Report Helps Cut Through the Fog

That business planning and uncertainty don’t mix well might be the understatement of the century, given today’s commercial landscape.

When such planning is challenged by circumstances beyond control, it amplifies the need and the opportunity to reassess all facets of a business, to reinforce fundamentals that can help stave off inaction that can contribute to strategic paralysis. Many organizations are feeling helpless in the face of yet another unprecedented business crisis at this moment. But make no mistake, winning businesses will find ways to invert the perception that everything is out of their control.

Strategic vision is pointless without well-calculated precision, even in times of relative clarity. The stakes are even higher now, when it can be difficult to see the next month, the next week, even the next day through the fog engulfing the marketplace.

The 2025 IHA State of the Industry report was developed to be a comprehensive, insightful new tool to help the home and housewares industry apply more precision when developing and executing reliable plans for all types of market conditions, especially uncertain business environments.

The 2025 IHA State of the Industry marks the culmination of an expanding arsenal of exclusive market research reports commissioned by the International Housewares Association in recent years as the calculus for forecasting sales opportunities has leaned toward gaining a deeper, sharper understanding of how the consumer is living, what the consumer is thinking and what the consumer needs and wants. HomePage News, launched by IHA in 2021 as a responsive news and information platform for a rapidly evolving industry, is the exclusive media partner for the 2025 IHA State of the Industry.

The 2025 IHA State of the Industry will be presented by HomePage News in three parts over the next few months. The first installment, MarketScope, releases today (May 1) and sets the foundation for the overall report with housewares market size and growth data and insights provided by market research and analytics company Circana.

This will be followed in June by MarketOutlook, presenting results of an IHA-commissioned survey by Morning Consult revealing consumer purchase intent and drivers in key housewares categories. The 2025 State of the Industry will culminate in July with a refreshed edition of IHA’s MarketWatch, presenting IHA-commissioned research by Springboard Futures on consumer dining and living trends and their potential to influence home and housewares sales.

IHA will continue to back such annual research reports as the Occasions and At-Home Entertaining Reports, the next editions of which will be released by HomePage News in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The IHA State of the Industry banner will serve as a widening foundation for IHA’s expanding market research and analytics program. In its purpose to equip home and housewares decision makers with added market clarity, the annual report is intended to evolve as a fluid resource that adapts to the changing information needs of the industry.

In that way, the IHA State of the Industry is a representation of an industry continuing to refine its ability to adapt by applying more precision to the strategic vision required for business plans that are better informed and positioned to cut through the thick fog of uncertainty.
