YumLit will exhibit in the Inventors Corner at The Inspired Home Show, presenting an illuminated children’s tableware concept designed to use embedded lighting technology as a screen-free reinforcement tool for mealtime engagement.
The YumLit plate integrates sealed electronics into food-safe dishware to encourage portion awareness and positive mealtime behaviors. The company described the product as a way to reinforce nutrition habits through visual feedback rather than digital screens.
The launch collection features three illustrated designs developed in collaboration with animation artists. LED backlighting animates the graphics through subtle illumination as children eat. The system incorporates a custom printed circuit board, embedded LEDs and a rechargeable battery housed within a durable, kid-safe structure.
Patent-pending sensors detect the presence of food, while an onboard microcontroller activates lighting effects during use. A touch sensor powers the plate on and off, and an automatic sleep mode preserves battery life.
The plates are constructed from FDA-approved, food-contact-safe materials and feature fully sealed electronics, supporting an IP67 waterproof rating for handwashing.
YumLit plans to launch through a Kickstarter campaign in early 2026 and is collecting early sign-ups ahead of the effort. Suggested retail price is $57, with availability expected in August.
