Small countertop kitchen appliances are entering a new phase in their development as a housewares category, becoming so sophisticated and effective that they increasingly compete with major kitchen appliances.
Indeed, international market researcher Euromonitor has identified air fryers as a product prompting some consumers outside the United States to question whether they need an oven at all.
At the same time, Joe Derochowski, Circana home industry advisor, said in a keynote presentation at The Inspired Home Show that consumers eating at home more as food price inflation pressures budgets are relying on small kitchen appliances, including ice cream makers and air fryers, not only to prepare meals but also to create moments of enjoyment at home.
In today’s marketplace, small electrics are increasingly capable, technically refined, convenient and stylish enough to leave on display.
New product introductions at The Inspired Home Show underscored the point, with manufacturers targeting specific consumer needs, aesthetics and use occasions.
Retro Meets Digital
The Salton Nuretro small appliance line (pictured above) takes a throwback approach paired with modern digital controls. The retro-inspired styling extends across a lineup that includes a digital coffee maker, kettle, air fryer toaster oven and both two- and four-slice toasters.
Feature sets vary by product, but the air fryer toaster oven includes automatic preheat, 12 cooking presets and a full accessory package, along with a 25-liter/26-quart capacity that accommodates six slices of bread or a 12-inch pizza. Colorways include Metallic Silver, Imperial Navy, Atomic White, Space Cherry and Midnight Black.
Salton emphasized the digitally integrated user experience, including variable-temperature control and programmable brewing cycles, as well as precision toasting and multifunction convection cooking. High-contrast displays, tactile controls and intuitive interfaces are designed to support ease of use across the line.

Gibson Homewares, meanwhile, entered the countertop appliance category with a self-branded assortment including a water kettle, four-slice toaster, digital air fryer, stand mixer and glass blender.
Positioned at midrange price points, the products feature a modern look with broad consumer appeal. The glass blender, available in four colorways, includes a 1.5-liter detachable borosilicate glass jar, stainless steel blade assembly and six-speed functionality suited for blending, grinding and ice processing. The air fryer incorporates a front touchscreen, eight preset functions, 360-degree rapid air circulation and a fingerprint-resistant matte finish.

Lotus also used The Inspired Home Show to highlight a premium small electrics lineup combining elevated styling with professional-level performance.
The four-slice toaster features dual independent shade controls, self-centering guides and commercial-grade heating elements designed to deliver consistent results. Stainless steel and die-cast construction reinforce durability while supporting a refined countertop presence.
The broader Lotus lineup includes a two-slice toaster, air fryer, multi-function cooker, coffee maker and kettle.
