PackIt, known for its freezable food storage solutions, and supermarket operator Kroger have partnered to donate over 1,200 co-branded totes to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank.

The custom PackIt Fresh & Kroger EcoFreeze Pro Plus Totes are freezable, stackable containers designed to keep perishables cool for hours, making them a solution to deliver fresh food to those in need, according to PackIt.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Kroger on this donation to the LA Food Bank,” said Laci Wilson, vice president of product development for PackIt. “The PackIt Fresh EcoFreeze Pro Plus Totes are designed as a mobile refrigeration solution, providing a food-safe environment for perishable items. We envision they will be a welcome addition to the LA Regional Food Bank’s busy distribution center by helping them meet growing storage and delivery demands while feeding those who need it most.”

The custom tote features PackIt’s patented EcoFreeze Technology, freezable gel built into the walls of the container, which eliminates the need for ice packs or refrigeration, said the company. It is made from reusable packaging to reduce plastic and cardboard waste and is stackable up to four high for easy storage. It keeps food at safe temperatures for up to 10 hours, depending on payload and external temperatures.

“When our communities need us most, Kroger and our associates are among the first on hand to connect people with the food they need,” said Chris Germann, a Kroger retail operations manager.  “Working with PackIt and our longstanding community partner, LA Regional Food Bank, we are improving access to fresh, affordable food for the Los Angeles community when they need it most.
