Huet Gets Newell Home & Commercial Co-CEO Post Among Company Leadership Moves

Newell Brands today announced a series of senior leadership changes, including the appointment of Melanie Huet, who has been chief marketing officer, to co-CEO of Newell’s Home & Commercial Segment.

Huet joins Mike McDermott in the roles of co-CEO of Newell’s Home & Commercial Segment, which oversees such kitchen brands as Oster, FoodSaver, Calphalon and Mr. Coffee.

“I’m honored to step into this new leadership role and partner closely with our teams to accelerate innovation, achieve commercial excellence and drive growth across our kitchen brands,” Huet said. “Newell’s commitment to building category-leading brands creates a powerful platform to make an impact with our iconic brands and fulfill our aspiration of delighting consumers by lighting up every day moments.”

McDermott, meanwhile, was appointed to lead Newell’s enterprise-wide business-to-business capability with a goal of expanding distribution, increasing channel precision and unlocking growth opportunities in sectors such as healthcare, hospitality and government, according to the company. He continues to lead Newell’s Home Fragrance and Commercial businesses within the Home & Commercial Segment.

McDermott said, “By deepening our channel focus and elevating commercial execution, we’re well-positioned to unlock new avenues for growth and create greater value across our brands and businesses.”

Nick Hammitt was named to succeed Huet as Newell’s chief marketing officer. Hammitt joins the Newell executive committee, reporting directly to Chris Peterson, Newell President and CEO. Hammitt joined the company earlier this year as vice president of marketing after holding senior marketing roles at leading global consumer products goods companies, including The Campbell’s Company, PepsiCo and Unilever.

“As we advance our strategy and position Newell for long-term success, we are making deliberate leadership updates that align with our business priorities,” Peterson said. “Each of these leaders brings deep functional expertise, proven results and a passion for winning and making an impact with our iconic brands. Together, they will help us sharpen our focus, enhance innovation, and unlock new growth opportunities.”

Hammitt added, “As CMO, I look forward to working with our brand teams to deliver bold, insight-driven marketing and commercial innovation that deepens consumer engagement, drives conversion, and fuels long-term brand equity.”
