Dyson has launched six new products aimed at cleaning homes more intelligently and effectively: a robotic vacuum, two air purifiers, two cordless vacuums and the company’s first wet vacuum cleaner.

Automation, advanced software and intelligence with enhanced cleaning performance are at the heart of the new products, according to Dyson. The products give insight into the company’s expertise in filtration, airflow, motors, software and robotics, the company maintained, adding Dyson’s products understand the surroundings and the task at hand so that the product can automatically respond to tackle the challenge effectively.

John Churchill, chief technology officer at Dyson said, “Robotics, sensing, intelligence — these are all areas that are typically considered ‘future technology’ but at Dyson, they have long been part of product development. Our engineers have, and continue, to employ these technologies to reduce the cognitive burden on our owners, saving time, energy and effort in maintaining a healthy home — a true set-and-forget mindset. Our future vision is of a home that can look after itself. The new technologies launched today are the embodiment of this — the most powerful robotic vacuum cleaner; intelligent, large-room purification; and, for active cleaning, new cordless vacuums and cleaner head technologies that offer adaptive multifunctional cleaning when and where you need it.”

The new products include:

Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robotic Vacuum

Dyson 360 Vis Nav Robotic Vacuum

The Dyson 360 Vis Nav is engineered with Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) technology and a 360-degree vision system with a fish-eye hemispheric lens that remembers where it has been, sees where to clean and is intelligent enough to create dust maps of the home, says the company. The processor collects data from 26 sensors for tasks including dust detection, obstacle avoidance and wall detection. The vacuum has a run-time of 50 minutes, after which it will automatically return to the dock to recharge. The MyDyson app provides deep cleaning reports after each clean.

“Robotic vacuum cleaners should be highly effective machines that intelligently clean your home, so you don’t have to. Enabling these autonomous cleaners relies on highly complex algorithms, visual interpretation, dust-sensing capabilities and powerful motor technology. Dyson engineers have taken everything we’ve learned from developing our vacuum cleaners, combined it with intelligent software, to develop the Dyson 360 Vis Nav — the most powerful intelligent robot vacuum cleaner,” said Jake Dyson, chief engineer.

Dyson Big + Quiet Formaldehyde Air Purifier

Dyson Big + Quiet Formaldehyde and Dyson HEPA Big + Quiet Formaldehyde Air Purifiers

The Dyson Big + Quiet Formaldehyde purifier is designed for large open-plan spaces while the Dyson HEPA Big + Quiet Formaldehyde purifier is made for shared, commercial spaces. The Cone Aerodynamics deliver up to 32 feet of projection and the CO2 filter indicates when to ventilate. The company says the Big + Quiet Formaldehyde is engineered to operate quietly, producing only 56 decibels of noise, making it Dyson’s quietest and most powerful purifier.

The HEPA H13 particle filter traps up to 99.97% of pollutants as small as 0.3 microns while the K-Carbon filter removes gas pollutants and 3x more nitrogen dioxide. The lifetime Selective Catalytic Oxidation filter destroys formaldehyde permanently. Sensors monitor the indoor air quality and send live data to the MyDyson app.

Dyson Gen5 Cordless Vacuum

Dyson Gen5detect and Dyson Gen5outsize Cordless Vacuums

The Dyson Gen5detect and Dyson Gen5outsize cordless vacuums feature fifth-generation Hyperdymium motor technology with unrivaled suction power capable of capturing viruses from your home, says the company. The machine features a fully sealed, whole-machine HEPA filtration system designed to capture 99.99% of particles down to 0.1 microns. 14 cyclones are engineered to remove dust from the airflow so there’s no suction loss during the clean.

The FluffyOptic cleaner head has increased brightness and range to reveal twice the amount of microscopic dust when compared to a past Dyson cleaner head. The fade-free battery was designed to offer up to 70 minutes of run-time.

Dyson Submarine Wet Roller Head

Dyson Submarine Wet Roller Head

The Dyson Submarine Wet Roller Head is Dyson’s first wet vacuum cleaner. Designed to deliver just the right amount of water to effectively remove spills, stains and spall debris from hard floors with a motor-driven microfiber roller, the Dyson Submarine achieves a “clean floor” finish without over-saturating, says the company. The wet roller head has eight-point hydration and used a pressurized chamber for more water distribution across the entire width of the roller.

Dyson asserts that a durable plate extracts contaminated water from the wet roller and deposits it into a separate waste-water tank to ensure no dirt or debris is transferred back to the floor. The Submarine was designed with a low profile and a full-width brush bar for easy maneuvering underneath furniture to clean dust, debris and spills from even hard-to-reach places.
