2024 Housewares Charity Gala To Honor QVC’s Stevens, TJX Cos.’ Landsman

This post was updated on February 13, 2024.

The Housewares Charity Foundation (HCF) will honor a pair of leading industry merchants — QVC’s Kristen Stevens and TJX Companies’ Herb Landsman — when the foundation holds its 25th-anniversary awards gala during The Inspired Home Show 2024.

The HCF Housewares Cares Gala, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, is set for Monday, March 18, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Chicago. The event has sold out, according to HCF.

Stevens, vice president and GMM at QVC will receive the HCF 2024 Humanitarian of the Year award. Landsman, retired executive vice president of TJX Companies, will be honored with the 2024 Lifetime Humanitarian award.

Proceeds from the 2024 Housewares Cares Gala will benefit the foundation’s legacy charity, Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), as well as Feeding America, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute & The Jimmy Fund and the James Beard Foundation.

Since the first HCF gala in 1998, the foundation has raised more than $56 million and has been credited with donating more than $32 million to BCRF. Evelyn Lauder founded BCRF in 1993. Since 2000, HCF has funded 130 BCRF research projects. Over the years, housewares-supported breast cancer advances have included new targets for aggressive triple-negative breast cancers, immunotherapy strategies to prevent and treat metastasis and Liquid biopsy technology to detect inherited forms of breast cancer.

QVC program host David Venable will emcee the 2024 gala, which also will feature James Beard all-star chefs Rick Bayless of Fontana Grill, Lamar Moore of Bronzeville Winery and Sarah Grueneberg of Monteverde Restaurant and Pastificio.

Landsman recently retired from the TJX Companies as executive vice president/merchandising at TJX/HomeGoods. From 1989 to 2005, Landsman served as senior vice president and merchandise manager for TJ Maxx /Marshalls before moving to HomeGoods in 2005. He began his retail career in 1968 at Shillito’s Department Store (a division of Federated) in 1968. Landsman serves on the board of directors of the Housewares Charity Foundation, the National Center for Race Amity, Triangle-Inc., Empowering Adults with Disabilities and the Greater Boston Food Bank. He is also involved with Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund, the TJX Multi-Cultural Coalition and the Boston Women’s Exchange.

Stevens, QVC’s vice president/GMM of home, culinary and electronics, joined QVC in 2021. Prior to QVC, Stevens worked at Sam’s Club as vice president/DMM, and she began her retail career in 2000 at Walmart in various home buying and strategy positions.

QVC launched Living for Giving with the Housewares Charity Foundation in 2021, a campaign benefitting Feeding America. This initiative has provided millions of meals through local food banks throughout the U.S. For the past two years, Stevens has continued to champion the Living for Giving partnership and Feeding America has recognized QVC and the Housewares Charity Foundation as “Leadership Partners” for their contributions to help fight hunger.  Stevens currently serves on the board of the Housewares Charity Foundation.
