Good Housekeeping Kitchen Gear Awards Salute Innovation

The Good Housekeeping Institute Kitchen Appliances and Technologies Lab has launched its first annual Kitchen Gear Awards, naming 51 winners.

Good Housekeeping tested products to find the most innovative and best-performing kitchen appliances and cooking tools. Judges chose the winners from more than 150 products evaluated.

The winners, as designated by Good Housekeeping, were:

  • Quick Roaster Pan from Good Cook. A 17- by 12-inch roasting pan with removable rack that is lightweight but can hold a turkey up to 25 pounds.
  • Salad Spinner from Oxo. An improved version of a one-handed pump design spinner inspired by a toy over two decades ago. 
  • Chef’s Knife from Misen. Incorporates the best of both Western- and Japanese-style knives with its durability and precision.
  • Blacklock Cast Iron Griddle from Lodge. Offers relatively light weight and a raised handles that make it easy to maneuver, and it’s triple-seasoned.
  • Thermapen ONE from Thermoworks. Turns on right away when you pull it open, easily pierces all types of food and gives results in one second.
  • G5 Graphite Core Bonded Cookware from All-Clad. A graphite-core version that’s 80% lighter than its heavy duty copper cookware and still delivers quality results. 
  • Nesting 11-Piece Aluminum Non Stick Cookware Set from Tramontina. A durable, oven-safe set that nests for compact storage.
  • Titanium Skillets from Hestan. Sturdy but not heavy, broiler safe and made of stainless steel fused with resilient titanium.
  • 8-inch Chef Knife from Hast. Lightweight but sturdy with an ergonomic handle.
  • Foodi NeverDull 14-Piece Knife Block Set from Ninja. Knife set with built-in sharpener and suction-cup secured block.
  • White 6-Piece Tai Knife Block Set from Cangshan. Sleek knives that cut cleanly with little effort.
  • Signature 5.5-quart Chambray Dutch Oven from Le Creuset. Trendy new Chambray and color additions to existing line.
  • Stackable 4-Piece Set from Staub. Enameled cast iron cookware set that nests. 
  • Batter Mixer from Whiskware. Squeezable batter mixer with a BlenderBall wire whisk makes it fast and simple to mix and dispense pancake batter.
  • Stuffed Wafflizer from Power XL. Cooks through and leaves waffles slightly crisp on the outside. 
  • Coffee Maker from Aeropress. Nests to size of a mug and makes espresso style drinks and iced coffee in about one minute.
  • Extreme Rose Wine Glass, Set of 2 from Riedel. Designed to the aroma and flavor profile of specific varietals.
  • Terra from Sodastream. Doesn’t need plugging in and has a large button used to adjust the carbonation.
  • Bambino Espresso Machine from Breville. Sleek and compact but comes with all of the equipment you need to make an espresso or espresso-style drink.
  • Ice Cream Maker from Ninja. A Creami ice cream maker with pint containers that freeze to create ice cream, gelato, milkshakes and more in less than five minutes.
  • H200 Easy Clean Slow Juicer from Hurom. Simpler juicing with a large self-feeding hopper. 
  • Espresso 3200 Series with LatteGo from Philips. Adjust coffee strength, the amount of the coffee and the milk portion with the touch of a few buttons. 
  • Dinamica Plus from Delonghi. Fully automated espresso machine stores beans and grinds them just before portioning out.
  • Temperature Control Smart Mug 2 from Ember. Set preferred drinking temperature between 120 and 145 degrees fahrenheit.
  • 2-Basket Air Fryer from Ninja Foodi. Versatile air fryer has two baskets so you can prepare different dishes at the same time. 
  • The Plant Based Milk Maker from Almond Cow. Blends ingredients such as nuts, oats and coconut to make dairy-free milks.
  • ChefIQ Smart Cooker from ChefIQ. Built-in calculator helps you choose cooking times and connected app provides video recipes.
  • 1.9 cubic foot Smart Over-the-Range Microwave from Whirlpool. Connects to an app that can scan the barcode on frozen foods and send the customized cooking instructions straight to the microwave.
  • ChefCubii Combi-Oven from Fotile. Uses steam and convection bake to cook food quickly while keeping it moist on the inside and crispy on the outside. 
  • Precision Oven from Anova. Bake like you would in a regular oven, or use steam or the sous vide mode to make food juicy and tender with the ability to crisp it after.
  • Smart Countertop Convection Oven from June. Countertop oven recognizes food, offers programs for cooking and lets you monitor the progress via an app.
  • Smart Oven from Brava. Uses light rather than traditional heating elements to cook food and has cooking programs and recipes that guide you through the entire cooking process.
  • TM6 from Thermomix. Weighs ingredients, chops, blends, whisks, cooks, steams and comes with step-by-step recipe instructions via app. 
  • 36-Inch Induction Cooktop with Home Connect from Bosch. Has five different cooking zones plus unique features such as FlexInduction that combines two cooking zones into one.
  • Smart-Dial Oven from Samsung. Sleek slide-in has a gas cooktop and an electric oven with two doors that can operate as two separate ovens.
  • 30″ Smart Slide-In Front-Control Induction Range from GE Profile. Has a large screen control that makes cooktop and oven programing easy and has device based camera enabled food monitoring.
  • Combi-Steam Oven from Miele. A built-in that  allows you to use it as a regular oven or as a steamer. 
  • Quart Bag from Stasher. Quart-size food-grade silicone bag that opens wide on the corners for easy fill of bulky items such as thick sandwiches.
  • Stojo Bowl from Stojo. 36-oz size collapsible bowl is sturdy in the open position and can handle hot foods. 
  • 2 Pack Black Cord Wrappers from The Cord Wrapper. A simple tool that sticks to an appliance so you can neatly wrap cords and keep counters tidy. 
  • Rubbermaid Glass Storage from Rubbermaid. Stackable, leak-proof storage containers are made of glass that’s oven-safe up to 450 degrees fahrenheit.
  • Stainless Steel Food Box from Klean Kanteen. Stackable, lightweight and perfect for packing up snacks and on-the-go meals. 
  • Next Level Magnetic Knife Block from MesserMeister. Designed for easy cleaning with LED lights that you can turn on to make sure you’re getting every last bit.
  • Multi-Use Food Preservation System with Built-In Handheld Sealer from Foodsaver. Vacuum sealer that can handle pre-cut bags but can customize bag length, too.
  • Blue Carbon Steel 10-inch Fry Pan from Viking. Seasoning carbon steel pan that comes pre-seasoned. 
  • Carbon Steel Skillet from Sardel. Combines the heating capabilities of cast iron with the lighter weight of stainless steel cookware. 
  • Dutch Oven from Misen. Enameled cast iron heats evenly and retains heat well, so it’s suitable for stovetop, oven and outdoor use up to 500 degrees fahrenheit and comes with a grill pan that serves as a lid.
  • Ranger Cast Iron Grill Cooking Bundle from Solostove. Portable and functions on its own as a wood-burning fire pit or as a grill with the included accessory.
  • Karu 16 Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven from Ooni. Can be used with wood or charcoal, and can incorporate a sold-separately gas burner. 
  • SmokeFire Grill from Weber. Smokes, cooks and sears  over direct heat, reaching up to 600 degrees fahrenheit.
