CMA Changes Name to Cookware and Bakeware Alliance

The Cookware Manufacturers Association (CMA) announced that as of January 1, 2022, the association will be renamed the Cookware and Bakeware Alliance (CBA).

Founded in 1922, the CMA has changed its name over the years to meet the times and industry requirements, said Fran Groesbeck, managing director.  The new name — Cookware and Bakeware Alliance — incorporates the full range of categories and market sectors the CMA represents, she added.

The addition of bakeware in the name now encompasses all that we do,” Groesbeck said. “Bakeware is a critical category in the housewares market. Our Engineering Standards are formed for both cookware and bakeware, so now our name does too.

“Becoming an alliance became clear as we looked at what we do and why we do it,” Groesbeck continued. “When CBA members come together, we put aside our competitive differences, all with the goal of best practices for the industry to create safe consumer products. In that moment, all our members become allies, one group with an important common goal.”

Groesbeck said that come January, the newly named CBA will share more news about plans for the alliance and new programs for 2022, including the celebration of its 100th Anniversary.
